Preserve plant life: how to conserve plants

 

Plants which are the foundation of earth’s life, is now one of the most endangered species. The changes in civilization and the increasing pace of development in the last three centuries have left its footprint on our natural resources mainly on plant and wild life.

Our Mother Earth is a planet with a magnificent variety of plants and wildlife; however, much of Earth has changed dramatically from it was, a few hundred years back. Each generation makes changes to the landscape that have a lasting impact.

Although some plants and animals have effectively adapted to sustainable populations, the continual loss of high quality habitats all across the world has led to disturbing decline in the number of several important plants and animals.

Now let’s see why preserving plant life is important...

The Center for Biological Diversity, an Arizona-based nonprofit dedicated to securing the future for endangered plants and animals throughout the world reports “Through photosynthesis, plants provide the oxygen we breathe and the food we eat and are thus the foundation of most life on Earth. Unlike animals, plants can't readily move as their habitat is destroyed, making them particularly vulnerable to extinction”.

In fact, plant life plays a main role in maintaining the ecological balance of nature. It is responsible for maintaining the food chain and the natural cycles. Not only that, some of the plants has medicinal value. Various prescriptions written by doctors all over the world have medicines made out from plants.

So plants being the backbone of earth‘s ecosystem, having it endangered can be a threat to all life forms on earth. We all should our best to preserve plant life on earth for a better future for all of us. If we don't put a stop to the large scale exploitation of plant life, it might as well lead to extinction of life from earth.

There are many Non-profit Organizations working on this behalf to bring awareness to the general public. And as fellow beings on earth, each and every one of us has a responsibility to aid and support them. We should start creating awareness among others the need to preserve plant life.

    Ways to preserve plant life

Below listed are just some ways, we can all contribute to the preservation of plant life. Each one can create their own ways and methods to do the same more effectively. Ultimately, it is for us or for our children.

1. Stop cutting down trees; Stop deforestation

2. Start planting trees or rather any types of plants; Encourage afforestation

3. Follow the principle Of “ use, reuse and recycle” to get the optimum benefit from the products

4. Pollution Control

5. Banning and controlling the activities adversely affecting animals and plants

6. Open National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries

7. Start Botanical Gardens for conserving rare and endangered plant species

8. Avoid buying products which are made out of the remains of the rare species

9. Volunteer for Non-profit organizations working on this behalf and take part in it. Also donate funds (if possible) for their cause.
